Rethink the intranet architecture; reorganise information and content areas and finally create a visual language that is both intuive and ‘sober’.
REN is Portugal's energy main transport infrastructure and they undertake the overall management of the National Electric System and the National Natural Gas System.
The intranet architecture was reorganised and a new information tree was created under the concept of "The Human Network". Also, a new name, more personal, more human: iREN (pronounced same way as popular name Irene).
New user experience and designs followed this idea of a more human intranet: a personalised dashboard that, when collapsed, becomes the main navigation menu; colours associate different information groups (contacts, documents, projects, etc.).
Truly useful features were integrated in Profile area, and designed to facilitate daily tasks: request holidays, upload expenses, book a work trip or simply request stationary.
Also, this new design language was proactively applied to the company's internal TV circuit to show how it could work coherently across different digital channels.
The new intranet opens with a dashboard, a summary of relevant information.
Collapsing the dashboard turns it in to the navigation menu, which stays collapsed until user toggles it again.
Useful features and actions that really help employees in daily company activities and tasks.
Smart search, with realtime results to avoid less "digging" in the website architecture for simple info.
